Nguyen Dynasty ancient wooden objects on display Items on show come from 11 collectors and include special art works, from a horizontal lacquered board engraved with Chinese characters, a pair of wooden panels to home appliances such as wood paintings, trays and worshipping objects. At the opening ceremony, Ms Tran Thi Thuy Phuong, director of the Ho Chi Minh City based Vietnam Museum of History affirmed the immutable value of products made by artisans under the Nguyen Dynasty with engraving and lacquering technique. She said “When speaking about antiques of the Nguyen Dynasty, many young people think of Hue, the former capital city which had much precious woodwork. But actually, during the 143 years of the Nguyen Dynasty, tens of thousands of home items, worshipping objects and fine artworks were produced across the country.” Objects of the Nguyen Dynasty, which are 60 years ago, may not be considered as antiques, but they are worth preserving. The display runs until the end of October. (Source: Nhandan)
