Germany lends a hand with 12th century Cham restoration

The German government has provided 100,000 euros (VND1.9 billion) in aid to a central province in Vietnam to restore Cham towers that date back to the 12th century.

Binh Dinh Province has started work on restoration of the Canh Tien Towers in An Nhon District, estimated to cost VND2.9 billion in total and scheduled to complete in 2007.

Apart from the German funding, the province is to pick up the remaining cost.

The Cham towers were recognized in Vietnam as a national cultural and historic monument in 1982.
