Vina Media moves on with tourism info counter plan
Vina Media Joint Stock Co. is pressing on with a plan to install 50 tourism information counters in HCMC and others in Hanoi and Danang, all to be completed late this year, the company’s leader said.
Le Hoang Yen, general director of the company, said that difficulties in finding venues for installing such counters had caused delays to the plan, which kicked off in late October last year.
“We’ve installed 30 information kiosks since last October and will complete the plan late this year,” she said, adding her company originally expected to complete 50 counters in HCMC within two weeks late last year.
The thirty tourism information counters that have been installed at some venues such as Tan Son Nhat International Airport, shopping centers, and hotels allow users to search for information with ease on a touch screen.
It provides information about tourist attractions, tour routes, tourism services, restaurants, shopping centers, entertainment venues and related tourism information in HCMC and other provinces and cities.
Yen said Vina Media now has six counters in the central city of Danang and one in Hanoi. The company is planning three more in the two cities.
She expected to earn revenue from advertising at these counters.
“It’s a long-term project so more time is needed before tourism firms familiarize themselves with advertising at the counter. Initially we upload their information free of charge so as to attract users,” she said.
